Places to visit near Indore


The city of Mandu is situated, 95 km from Indore in the Madhya Pradesh region of northern-central India. Most of the city’s monuments date to the 15th and 16th centuries CE. It is famous among tourists because of the fort built by Baaz Bahadur in memory of his queen Rani Roopmati. It was also the capital of the Muslim state in North India from 1401 to 1561. The city is located on a hill that rises 633 m above sea level and is endowed with very attractive natural scenery, which is best seen during the rainy season. It is clothed in green with several brooks and torrents rushing down into the ravine winding below. The beauty is enhanced by about a dozen lakes and ponds interspersed on its top.
